Maiwwage..Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday

Love it? It's from the Princess Bride.

But seriously folks, I'm here to talk about marriage and what it means to me.

Being married is the most beautiful, stressful, rewarding, tasking thing that anyone can do (besides have a kid). Don't get me wrong I love being married. But marriage is not for the weak or faint of heart. If you aren't able to dedicate yourself mind, body and soul to someone else, then marriage is not for you. Being married means having a partner and a best friend for the rest of your life. Also, someone to aggravate the piss out of you and know how to push your buttons just right, for the rest. of. your. life.

I love being married to my husband. I could never picture being married or even dating anyone else. We have had quite a few major fights. Example: he thought I was cheating on him during his first deployment and he threw his wedding ring in the dirt and spent 3 hours the next day looking for it. But with God on our side and good heads on our shoulders, we will make it through the long haul.

One thing Jordan said to me and I totally agree with him is that the only time we'll be done is if God leaves our marriage. He looks at all the failed relationships in his family and it is evident that God wasn't with them. But looking at his mammaw and pappaw who have been married for well over 40 years, they still have an active relationship with God and they are still going strong.

Marriage isn't a joke. It's for life. It bothers me when some people get married so young just to get out of the house. It requires commitment, sacrifice and dedication.

Marriage is especially fun when you are married to your best friend. I know that if I ever get divorced from Jordan, I will probably never marry again. Marriage is a one time deal for me and if I don't get it right this time, I won't try it again.

This was a Writer's Workshop prompt from Mama Kat at Mama's Losin' It.

I love reading your posts about your marriage and your hubby. It sounds like you guys are so happy together and it brightens my day knowing that there are marriages out there that are making it despite the many obstacles. Keep 'em coming! :)

I don't think I'd ever get married again if something happened to Hubby and me. But, I'm thinking it may be for a different reason. Kidding! But, loved your post and your blog is very cute:)

Found you from Mama Kat, I love this post! Especially the Princess Bride quote. That is my fave! I know if anything happened in my marriage...I would not get married again. I know the one I married is IT!

hey there, i'm visiting from mama kat. nice to know another left leaning military spouse. (also, i'm a big fan of the princess bride.) and deployments are so so so hard on a marriage, as if they weren't tough already. (i'm in the smack middle of a deployment right now.)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I have been thinking about this a lot actually and I think the true problem with my relationship is that God is not part of it. I believe and my husband doesn't.

I would really like to talk about this on my blog... if you don't mind my stealing the idea.

Thanks for a great post.
