Day 22 - A picture of something you wish you were better at

Cooking.

I can bake all day long. I love making cookies, cupcakes, brownies, muffins, pancakes, waffles. Any sort of sweet treat. But when it comes down to making a meal, I have more than plenty of help from hamburger helper, banquet, Stouffer's and Betty Crocker. Jordan loves his mom's goulash and tuna noodle casserole and every time I've tried to make both, I over cook the noodles and they come out with the consistency of paste. I'm not saying I want to learn how to make bread from scratch or make a whole Thanksgiving meal by myself, I just want to learn how to fry chicken, make cornbread, fry potatoes, make pinto beans. Pretty much all the foods I grew up with.

In 2009 I received 2 cookbooks that have gotten little use and I'd really like to use them more. There are plenty of slow cooker recipes that I can try and Jordan absolutely loves seafood and I don't so that limits our recipe selection too. But I'm trying to be more open minded and will start trying to make new recipes and figure out how to cook.

That's the best way to start Shea! The more you try, the more you'll be comfortable with it. Just don't beat yourself up if you mess it up...part of learning is making mistakes. I always use my mess ups as good excuses to order a pizza. ;)

I am good at cooking but i can't bake and i don't enjoy it. I hate standing in the kitchen for hours and when you get it out of the oven it looks and tastes like shit....it's always the same when i try to bake.
I have a big family cookbook and one from good housekeeping. I often cook the same stuff every few weeks or try to change it a bit...the most time it's pasta, pizza or casseroles.
