DIY Pool Noodle Wreath!!

Thanks to the lovely, awesome, amazing site of pinterest, I have found out how to make a foam wreath out of a pool noodle! This was amazing considering there isn't a Michael's craft store within driving distance and I can't seem to find them online. So I went to walmart, got the thinnest noodle I could find bought it (it was only $2.47) and bought some yarn. It's fairly easy. You just cut the noodle on the bias at opposite sides so when you fold it up, it'll make a perfect circle. Then wrap the crap out if it with duct tape. Jordan helped me on this part because when I wrapped it, I didn't wrap enough and it started to pop out. Then reform it into a circle, like just take and work it around to get it rounder. I think I cut mine too short and that's why I had to do that. Then, using a tutorial I found online, I took and tied yarn in a knot at a starting point then wrapped and wrapped and wrapped the yarn around it until it was all the way around. I think next time I might use a thicker yarn not only to give it a different look but to save me some time. It took me about 2 hours for this whole craft and that includes wrapping the wreath, cutting the felt flowers and hot gluing them on. Not to mention taking a 3 year old to the bathroom and nursing an 8 month old back to sleep.

Overall, I think it looks really good. The colors are very reminiscent of fall which I can't wait to finally start!! I bought another noodle that I think I may fully dedicate as a fall themed wreath. But as for now, I like the one hanging outside!!

Finished!! (You can kind of see the duct tape a little, I just covered it with the flowers)

Flowers added to it

Finished and hung up!! (That was the only kind of ribbon I had on hand so it's a bit funny)

LOVE! I need to use up some yarn, may steal this idea ;) I stared at foam wreaths the other day forever, but didn't want to pay $7 bucks for them! $2 sounds tons better!

Sounds like I need to join pinterest! hehe

These are always so neat to see! I have seen some people have problems with the foam cylinder bowing out where it's taped and looking more like a teardrop than a circle. The best way to avoid this is to stick to softer and lower density polyethylene (the noodle foam) since it'll be more flexible and not resist taping as much.
